Welcome!

Hello!

From arboretums and forest preserves at which we spend our weekends to the backyards and fishing holes we call home on summer days and nights, Illinois is home to many different ecosystems, animals and plants. Of these, 356 organisms are endangered, and 124 are threatened (Dnr.org, N.d.).

The purpose of this blog is to educate and inspire. Many of these animals and plants we can help to save by making small changes to our lives or backyards. Here, I will be focusing solely on insects, with the intent to eventually move into plants, mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.

Together the state of Illinois can conserve its endangered and threatened species and nurture the beautiful place we call home.
